Father Jim King, C.S.C. is originally from Chicago, Illinois. He has resided at Notre Dame while serving as the Director of Vocations for the Congregation of Holy Cross (Indiana Province) for the past six years. He is graduate of Notre Dame and received a B.A. from Notre Dame in Government in 1981. He then entered Moreau Seminary and earned his Master of Divinity degree in 1987.

Father Jim was ordained a Holy Cross priest in 1988 and spent two years as an assistant rector and First Year Seminar instructor before leaving for the University of Wisconsin where he earned an M.A. in Political Science. Subsequently, Father Jim spent five years at the University of Portland as a history instructor, rector, and assistant director in the Alumni Office. He also served for one year as director of the University's Salzburg foreign study program prior to returning to Notre Dame in 1997.
