What was your first impression of ND when you arrived on campus?

Once I arrived on campus, I felt extremely welcomed by the enthusiasm everyone had for belonging to the Notre Dame family. I knew the next four years of my life were going to be filled with nothing but excitement and laughter.

What are your favorite things about student life at ND?

The uniqueness of every Notre Dame student is what helps make the intangible characteristic of the greater Notre Dame community that much more extraordinary. We are all competitive, yet compassionate. Additionally, I have grown to recognize and admire the benevolence within the student body. It’s almost as if it is contagious!

What prompted you to choose your major?

I have always been fascinated by the complexity of the human psyche. Additionally, I have an innate passion for helping people get through difficult times. With this being said, my major practically chose itself.

Extra-curricular involvement:

I’ve been involved in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA), which is a Campus Ministry program for those who wish to become Catholic; Notre Dame Presidential Scholars; Multicultural Research Institute; Wabruda (treasurer), Freshmen Orientation Staff Member, Carroll Hall Multicultural Commissioner, Tolson Community Center Activity and Program Aide, Interhall Basketball (2006-2007 Team Captain), and Interhall Football.

What do you think makes ND unique from other universities?

Notre Dame is the only university that has unprecedented levels of academics, athletics, and spirituality. Furthermore, the University does not compromise any component of its integrity or moral value under any circumstances.

What are some of the things you enjoy about living in the residence hall?

Carroll Hall has one of the most closely knit groups of men on campus. The sense of camaraderie and brotherhood are so apparent that even visitors to the dorm can feel it. Carroll Hall is definitely my home away from home…and since it is so far away from everything else, my home away from campus.

Do you have any words of wisdom to offer an incoming ND student?

Notre Dame has such an uncanny amount of opportunities to try new things and to meet new people that boredom is not even a part of a student’s vocabulary. However, the more initiative one takes in getting involved will be the deciding factor of how much enjoyment one can have.

Additional comments:

For a young man like myself from sunny southern California to live through South Bend winters with a smile on my face only reaffirms the magnificence of Notre Dame.
