What was your first impression of ND when you arrived on campus?

I was impressed with the friendliness of everyone here, and the beautiful, serene campus. There was an indescribable feeling in the air--that magic of Notre Dame--that really made me feel like I was exactly where I belonged. I still get that feeling when I walk around campus every day.

What are your favorite things about student life at ND?

I love that there are hundreds of opportunities to get involved-- be it service, dorm activities, sports, cultural groups, special-interest clubs, and more--and I love that most students here take advantage of that. I also love that students here are not too busy to have fun on the quads, in the dorms, or wherever.

What prompted you to choose Psychology and Spanish as dual majors?

I love studying social sciences, and psychology seemed like the right fit. I love my classes and I love how they all connect to each other and to everyday experiences and interactions. I also love languages, and coming from South Florida, Spanish was a natural choice. It's a beautiful language, and it's very practical.

Extra-curricular involvement:

I am involved Habitat for Humanity (Education and Outreach Chair and tutor); I'm a peer educator (a.k.a. "FIRE Starter" for Finding Identity, Relationships, and Equality) for the Gender Relations Center; and I am Pangborn's Brother-Sister Dorm Cabinet Member. I also participate in interhall/co-rec sports, which are fun, and a big part of campus life.

What do you think makes ND unique from other universities?

Where to start? Notre Dame has a unique blend of academics, athletics, service, and spirituality. We pride ourselves on achieving highly in all areas. We have tons of tradition and unity. The "Notre Dame family" is a tangible presence, on campus and throughout the country. It's an unbelievable experience being part of that, and it's definitely something that sets us apart.

What are some of the things you enjoy about living in the residence hall?

I like living in a dorm full of amazing women; each person has something to offer, and there is always something going on. We learn how to live together, and it's hard to be lonely in a dorm with 180 other people. Dorm life is a big part of Notre Dame, and we have awesome communities within each.

Do you have any words of wisdom to offer an incoming ND student?

Study hard, take advantage of all the opportunities here, and don't forget to meet tons of people and have FUN!!!!

Additional comments:

This school is the overall best on the planet--and no one can convince me otherwise! It's not 100 percent perfect, because no school is... but it's pretty amazing.
