What was your first impression of ND when you arrived on campus?

I absolutely loved Notre Dame from the minute I stepped onto campus--the crisp weather, the beautiful surroundings, the warm people. I knew I could grow to become a better and more learned Catholic at this institution.

What are your favorite things about student life at ND?

I love how I get the chance to bond with people at Notre Dame. Whether it's with my dorm girls, people in the same clubs, or fellow employees, I feel like I have a place here. I feel so supported by the unbelievable community of friends I have made here in such a short period of time.

What prompted you to choose Anthropology and Business as your dual major?

Having been raised deeply grounded in Korean culture in a highly majority area gave me a respect for people and their differences. I am fascinated by people from around the world; I want to learn about them, their culture, how they think, and how best I can interact with them for my future in Business. I just find the entire discipline irresistably interesting.

Extra-curricular involvement:

I am treasurer of Asian American Association, public relations officer for Sustained Dialogue, Korean Student Association's performance manager, and a spirit commissioner of Lyons Hall ( I dress up in the lion suit for dorm events and love being the mascot!). I am also on the President's committee for diversity and the Spring Visitation planning commitee.

What do you think makes ND unique from other universities?

I think ND has a dedication to integrity, service, and community that you don't see in many places. I really do feel like a part of a family every day.

What are some of the things you enjoy about living in the residence hall?

I enjoy having that community of girls to fall back on; I know if I ever need anything, they would pull through to help a friend and I would do the same for them.

Do you have any words of wisdom to offer an incoming ND student?

Capitalize on every moment possible: with every day comes an opportunity to learn, to love, to grow, and to become who you really want to be. Believe in yourself and trust in God.

Additional comments:

As a minority student at ND, I feel like I have a chance to really make a change on campus as the University moves towards becoming more diverse. I am becoming a part of the process of making this University better for future students and I think that is pretty amazing. Diversity is important to me and I am highly involved with these types of issues on campus.
